We applaud the U.S. Supreme Court for denying Gov. Brewer’s request to continue her executive order that barred “dreamers” from obtaining driver’s licenses. Arizona was one of only two states that discriminated against dreamers by not allowing them to receive driver’s licenses, but with the Court denying the Governor’s request that will soon change. Being able to legally drive on our streets means these individuals will be able to more easily get to their jobs and better provide for themselves and their families. While this ban has been in effect far too long, we are thrilled that the dreamers around us, our friends, colleagues, and neighbors, are one step closer to being treated as equal members of our community under the law.
